Description
Avocado oil is a liquid monounsaturated carrier oil typically pressed from the flesh of the avocado. palmitic acid content is higher than usual for liquid oils, resulting in a thicker, richer oil. It can be cloudy at room temperature, depending on if (and how extensively) the oil has been winterized.
Appearance
Deep green/yellow to pale yellow liquid in colour
Texture
Rich, velvety, can be sticky if applied undiluted to large areas of the skin.
Fragrance
Characteristic of carrier oils, though less refined versions may have a stronger scent
Uses
It’s a relatively inexpensive, very smooth and nourishing for dry and sensitive skin. you can make nourishing creams body butters soaps conditioners out of it
How to Use it ?
Include avocado in the oil phase of your formulas; it can be hot or cold processed.
Should you get it ?
You want to experiment with oils in your formulas you should or else its fine it is not a necessary ingredient although i like it in my winter products.
Recommended Starter Amount
I will recommend to start with 100ml you will get it for ₹300 Approx. 1ltr for soap making
Shelf Life
Stored somewhere cool, dark, and dry, It should last at least two years.
Refined/Unrefined
It’s up to you; more refined versions will have lighter colour, fainter scent, and are less likely to cloud in cooler temperatures
Alternatives and substitution
If state (liquid/solid) doesn’t matter I’d try Shea Butter . Otherwise, try a blend of shea butter and a mid-weight liquid oil like Rice bran oil or Olive Oil . I’d probably start with 25% shea butter, 75% liquid oil.
